Don't Give White Supremacists the Gift of Western Civilization

Progressive ignorance is giving white supremacists our most precious, common heritage

When the great Quintius Horatius Flaccus, known to us as Horace, wrote those words (in the first century BC) the majority of the white Europeans— among whom my own ancestors may have counted— were dancing with wild abandon around bonfires, offering the sacrifices of animals, and perhaps even people, to the capricious gods of pagan times.

Beyond the civilised shores of the Far East and the Mediterranean basin — stretching from southern Europe to the northern reaches of Africa and the Middle East—, the world was a tapestry of primitive customs. Not until a full twelve centuries had passed did the whitest of the white Europeans sip from the chalice of that ancient, yet ever-renewing fount of knowledge we know as ‘Western Civilisation’.

It is a fallacy, then, to consider Western Civilisation the exclusive domain of the white Europeans, for although their contributions have been numerous and deeply impactful, they were initially captives to a foreign culture, just as the would-be conqueror Romans were colonised by the very Greeks they subdued. Horace's immortal words serve as a reminder of this truth.

Taken individually, the contribution of the various northern European peoples to the grand tapestry of our shared cultural heritage are no more significant than those of the Arabs, Berbers, Hindus, Chinese, or Mongolians, for example. Yet, a cacophony of voices on the so-called “far-right” and progressive sides of the spectrum sing in discordant unison, proclaiming that Western Civilization is inherently white, and that its ultimate product is white supremacy. But why?

Stockholm Syndrome Meets Cultural Appropriation

The key distinctive point of Western Civilisation lies not in its evolution as a singular culture, much as the ancient Chinese or Hebrew cultures that persist to this day, but rather in the confluence and refinement of a multitude of cultures.

Yet, a thread unites this rich tapestry: a connection from the God of Aristotle, to Abraham’s and onwards to Einstein’s; from Phidias' chisel to the balloon animals of Jeff Koons (however hideous they may be). This unifying element transcends genetics, race, or lineage; it is an idea, a nervous system, the very fabric that lends coherence to our world.

Of course, the foundations of the West are anchored in the triad of Christianity, Greek philosophy, and Roman law. These pillars were not erected by a single, all-directing force, but rather were forged out of disagreement, wars, jealousy, and love. None of the elements necessitating any particular racial impetus.

Much to the contrary. Christianity dispelled the notion of a ‘chosen people,’ extending salvation indiscriminately through faith. Rome, too, was built upon the bedrock of the Rule of Law, applicable to all. Greek philosophy was not concerned with the "lived experience" of Athenians or the "spoken truth" of Milesians, but rather with universal values.

The Western Canon is universal — or at least it has an aspiration to be universal—, from the Greek tragedies to Shakespeare, references to a racial or ethnic primacy are few and far between. It was only with the beginning of West's cultural decline, ushered in by the so-called “Age of Enlightenment” and its anthropocentric, racist principles, that the racialisation of the Western Canon occurred. This era, coincidence or not, also witnessed the boom of the Transatlantic slave trade.

The Enlightenment, indeed, may have given birth to the concept of Western Civilisation, though I would caution against conflating the thing itself with its name.

Just as Virgil, commissioned by Augustus, reimagined the status of Romans as the chosen people to supersede the tale of a harlot raising two orphaned boys, the "Enlightened" felt compelled to reimagine their heritage away from a Medieval Europe that flourished under the tutelage of an Algerian priest preaching about a Semitic carpenter from a distant land.

If the “Enlightened” were to be the chosen ones, it had to be through reason, not faith. In their quest for validation, they turned to empirical standards and measurable qualities. An anthropocentric Europe, seeking liberation from a universal theocracy, looked to skin colour as a means of justifying its supremacy.

By dethroning God and exalting Man, the Enlightened found themselves faced with the task of crafting a human ideal—an anachronistic übermensch. Yet they remained captive to a theocentric world that had bestowed upon them the very reason, freedom, science, and arts they claimed to champion. In a twist of fate, the Enlightened found themselves in the grips of an anachronistic Stockholm Syndrome. Their only recourse was the cultural appropriation of Western Culture.

The Racialisation of Western Civilisation

The ascendance of foreign Western Civilization over the cultures of northern Europeans was achieved through a process of assimilation—a process that might deceive one into perceiving Western Culture as a monolithic ‘white’ entity. It is this very illusion that the postmodern wokes seek to exploit.

The notion that the West is not solely white extends beyond the abstract realm of ideas, manifesting in very concrete terms as well. Even genetically, the average southern European was considerably more diverse than their northern counterparts, with southern Europeans having constantly travelled far beyond the borders of Europe.

Diversity was a powerful tool for the development and progress of Western Civilisation. Yet, sinister forces have long conspired to undermine this diversity in their quest to conquer the West. The Nazis, for instance, laid waste to more European cultural heritage, including their own Germanic roots, than anyone else—perhaps with the sole exception of Napoleon.

This insidious racial tribalism plays directly into the hands of left-wing identity politics, which persistently racialise every aspect of society. The demonisation and beatification of whiteness stem from the same root, yielding the twin fruits of white guilt and white supremacy—both of which work in tandem to dismantle the West, for it stands for everything they actually hate.

The problem to the anti-West wokies lies not in diversity but in meritocracy. In the Old World, the racialisation of the West was deemed ‘necessary’ as a means of supplanting a theocentric world with a secular one. Today, progressives aim to turn the same trick with the goal of breaking the still-standing cultural allegiance to capitalism and democracy.

The Enlightenment sought to anachronistically make Western Civilisation white, imposing upon it racial constructs of their own design, which would enshrine a particular archetype of man at the center of all things. An idea that failed from the get go, for no single class or group can possess all-encompassing knowledge or develop independently of an external ethical source, regardless of how ‘perfect’ the shape of their cranium or nasal bridge may be.

Much like the “Enlightened” of yore, who aggressively sprayed their territorial pissings to assert dominance over the West, having reaped the benefits of a liberal society, freedom of speech, property, and spirituality; the progressives seek to stake their claim over the West and feed the corpse to the vultures.

The Vivisection of Western Civilisation

As progressives strive to subvert the essence of Western Civilisation, they continue to stage trials for a full-blown fascistic regime. That’s the reason why it constantly feels like Dr Mengele is running some wacko social experiments on us.

The acidity of our stomachs —which today is at an all-time high— was first observed by Dr. William Beaumont in 1822, when treating a pour soul with a bullet wound to the stomach.

To study the effects of acidity, emotional states, and temperature on digestion, Dr Beaumont would lower various foods into the wound and monitor the unfortunate subject's reactions. Similarly, progressives today canonise violent criminals, plaster the face of a confused man wearing makeup on beer cans, and insist that our extinction is imminent unless we start eating bugs. And then check for our reaction.

We also had an accident and shot ourselves in the stomach, not only once, but multiple times. The Enlightenment was one such instance, and now we continue down the same path with woke policies. As a result, the acidity of our collective stomachs is continuously tested as a trial run for the dystopian future the progressives envisage in a post-Western world.

But of course, not all is suffering. The modern woke consortium does provide us some relief in the form of formulaic Netflix shows and cheap consumer goods.

I recall the period between 2010 and 2013 when progressives decided to move society from the psychiatric ward to the operating table. When they started our collective selves into puberty blockers to yes fault of our own.

A decade later, they are already dissecting Western society to understand the inner workings of our political, cultural, and economic systems. Once they have completed their vivisection, their plan is to consign the remains to the vultures of white supremacy.

The Mock Execution

The vivisection was preceded by a mock execution. Dostoevsky was subjected to such a mock execution, standing before a firing squad, believing he was already dead. Yet, he survived, and he knew it. We, on the other hand, embraced the illusion of the execution — our faith murdered, our science silenced, and our logic dismantled. We believe all that remains are our barren souls and the hue of our zombified skin - a feast for identitarians of all kinds.

Yet, what remains is so rich that even their greatest enemies, the progressives and white supremacists, fiercely compete for its spoils.

For white supremacists, it provides a pitiful imitation of a heritage they lack. For progressives, it offers the chance to transform the true giants they fear confronting into manageable windmills to battle.

Another shared trait among these factions is the egotistical belief that the world sprang into existence the day they were born. They disregard the countless individuals who have contributed to the edifice of Western Civilization to indulge the whims of those who seek to tear it down at the last moment.

It is even plausible that white supremacists and progressives are conscious of their shared goal: a neo-paganistic renaissance. With meditation crystal meth free for all.

Regardless of individual opinions, we are all products of Western Civilisation - our language, worldviews, science, politics, faith, and philosophy. We are all Western.

They may attempt to recast the Bible, with Judas as the Messiah, but they lack the imagination to create an alternative to the Bible. They may rewrite Othello with Iago as the hero, but they lack the moral fiber to comprehend that Othello is more than just “the Moor."
