The Hostile Takeover of a Catholic Hospital by Abortion Mobsters
"It's a nice Catholic hospital you have there; it would be a shame if someone turned it into an abortion mill..."
“Power does not corrupt. Fear corrupts... perhaps the fear of a loss of power.”
John Steinbeck, 'The Short Reign of Pippin IV'
There was a time when the culture wars were simpler and more innocent, a time when we were only required to pay a symbolic ideological toll to the Woke mobsters. All we had to do was to accept gay couples in Disney children movies and trans activists' faces on our beer cans. Perhaps we will look back at those times with a feeling that we were happy and didn't know it.
But “times are a-changin’” yet again, and it seems we are entering a new, chilling stage of the culture wars, one where we're finally required to pay ideological ‘protection money’ to the Woke mobsters. Failure to do so, we are threatened, will result in the destruction of our businesses and institutions, and the banishment of anyone who thinks differently. This is not a hypothetical scenario; it is the reality we live in.
A disturbing instance of this new reality is the prospective hostile takeover of a Catholic Hospital in Australia, the Calvary Public Hospital, operated by the Little Company of Mary. The government of the ‘Australian Capital Territory’ (ACT, Australia’s version of Washington, D.C. ) will compulsorily acquire this hospital, a decision taken after an inquiry into abortion procedures described Calvary as "problematic due to an overriding religious ethos."
The Archbishop of Canberra-Goulburn, Christopher Prowse, expressed his shock and disappointment, stating that the decision was made "without warning or discussion." This move left many, including the hospital's employees, in a state of concern and uncertainty. However, the ACT Government, under the guise of meeting "the evolving needs of the ACT community," justified their abrupt decision.
The Art of Coercion
Let's pause for a moment and consider what this move signifies. It is a clear example of the Woke mobsters using the government's big stick to beat institutions into compliance. It is a glaring example of the insidious escalation of the culture wars. It's a slippery slope, and we are sliding dangerously close to the edge. A glimpse into the dystopian future that awaits when the Woke remain unchecked, treating political institutions as their personal amusement parks.
The main issue here isn't merely the transfer of a religious establishment into government control — which is problematic in its own right. The main problem lies in the apparent motivation behind this acquisition, the blatant disregard for the freedom of religious institutions, and the troubling implications of a government yielding to the demands of a Woke culture. It's a stark reminder of what happens when governments are co-opted by Woke ideologies: they cease to be protectors of freedom and instead become enforcers of a singular worldview.
The ACT government has conveniently sidestepped these concerns. Chief Minister Andrew Barr ( a raging anti-religious bigot and the first openly gay head of state in Australia), said they had negotiated with Calvary for "many months". Yet, the hospital's CEO, Martin Bowles, stated that the staff had not been consulted about the decision at all. This discrepancy raises a disturbing question: What exactly constitutes ‘negotiation’ in the eyes of the Woke mobsters?
What exactly constitutes ‘negotiation’ in the eyes of the Woke mobsters?
On the surface, this takeover might be presented as a bureaucratic procedure, a governmental decision in the best interest of the public. But what it really is, is a chilling showcase of the new modus operandi of the Woke mobsters. They aren’t simply content with pushing their agenda in the societal sphere; they are keen on reconfiguring the very institutions that don’t fall in line with their worldview.
Where There Is Light, the Woke Will Cast Their Shadow
“Censorship is the tool of those who have the need to hide actualities from themselves and from others. Their fear is only their inability to face what is real, and I can't vent any anger against them. I only feel this appalling sadness. Somewhere, in their upbringing, they were shielded against the total facts of our existence. They were only taught to look one way when many ways exist.”
Charles Bukowski
The government inquiry into abortion found Calvary problematic due to its religious ethos, primarily because it doesn't perform elective abortions. This is a blatant disregard of the fact that a Catholic institution has a right to uphold its religious values, including pro-life stances. The audacity to label this as 'problematic' is nothing short of ideological bullying.
The report urged religious hospitals to provide full abortion services "in accordance with human rights,” stating that "following the legality of abortion, societal punitive responses may have ended from the State but they still prosper at the hands of the Church," concluding that "the medical care limited by Calvary's Catholic ethos has implications for life-saving reproductive care beyond the provision of abortion."
Perhaps even more disconcerting is Calvary's opposition to the introduction of euthanasia in the ACT, which has put it further at odds with the ACT government. It's as if refusing to participate in acts that fundamentally contradict their religious beliefs is some kind of a moral failing. On the contrary, it is a testament to their commitment to their values.
Refusing to participate in acts that fundamentally contradict your religious beliefs is not a moral failing, but a testament to you commitment to your values
The real failing here is the government’s inability to respect ideological diversity, to understand that the Woke are not the norm and that different beliefs and values still thrive in society. When governments start deciding what beliefs are acceptable and what are not, we're sliding down a slippery slope towards a dystopian reality where freedom becomes a farce.
This is not just a wake-up call for Catholics or other communities of faith but, indeed, for anyone who values their freedom to think and live as they choose. Today, it's a Catholic hospital; tomorrow, it could be any institution that doesn't subscribe to the Woke narrative.
This is not about being conservative or liberal, right or left, either. This is about the fundamental principle of freedom. The freedom to believe, to think, to act, to live according to one's own values, as long as they don't infringe upon the rights of others. When we compromise on this principle, we compromise on the very idea of a free society.
We Must Refuse to Pay the Piper of Woke Extortion at Once
"The true test of civilization is, not the census, nor the size of cities, nor the crops - no, but the kind of man the country turns out."
Ralph Waldo Emerson
And so, we find ourselves at a crossroads, where we need to decide what kind of a society we want to be. Will we be a society that prizes ideological diversity, that respects the right of institutions to uphold their values, or will we become a society that bulldozes everything that doesn’t conform to the prevailing narrative?
It's time to choose. It's time to resist the ideological extortion of the Woke mobsters, to stand up for the right to think differently. Because if we don't, we risk waking up one day to a world where thinking is a crime and conformity, the only law.
Let’s not allow the Woke mobsters to hide the actualities of diversity, freedom, and individual rights. Because the cost of losing these is a price too high for any society to pay. This is about a tangible, suffocating pressure to conform to Woke mobsters, or face the threat of being burnt to the ground, metaphorically and otherwise.
The woke trial runs for fascism are in flux
The irony is palpable. The same voices that once championed diversity and tolerance are now compelling a religious institution to forfeit its values, all in the name of an elusive concept of progress.
It might be far away in Australia, and it might be a single instance, but this sets a precedent for future government actions there and elsewhere. Don't be surprised if you wake up one day to find that your institution, built on your beliefs, is no longer yours. Because it has happened. It's now jurisprudence. And as we've seen with Roe v. Wade (which made waves not only in the USA but abroad), it will be taken to the extreme and cause irreparable damage if we don't act quickly.
They mob want to coopt the rest of us to join in their race to "unfreedom".
On Mastodon, some random guy instantly called me a bigot & blocked for voicing my assent to my convictions. (I shared this story link there.)
That is telling of the magnitude of the battle we're up against. But, do I really care whether you block me or not?
It's as if we've slipped into a Kafkaesque reality, where mobsters trade rainbow flags for brass knuckles. Ah, the sweet irony of 'progress'! Keep up the good fight, my friend. We mustn't let our institutions become ideological marionettes. After all, in a world where thinking becomes a crime, I fear we'd have to plead guilty!
