You're Invited to the Ball This Pride Month… No RSVP Required
Building a better future, one repurposed genitalia at a time
“A fire broke out backstage in a theatre. The clown came out to warn the public; they thought it was a joke and applauded. He repeated it; the acclaim was even greater. I think that’s just how the world will come to an end: to general applause from wits who believe it’s a joke.”
Soren Kierkegaard, Either/Or
In this day and age, LGBT$XYZ+-% issues are more prominent than Dylan Mulvaney’s five o’clock shadow or Laverne Cox’s Adam’s apple. But it hasn't always been this way. There was little cause for celebration until 5 minutes ago, when we didn’t have all the experimental drugs and invasive surgery required to allow you to be what you’ve always been.
This is a fight against nature that we appear to be winning.
But beyond that, there's a fight against common sense. Remember when genital mutilation was considered a barbaric and uncivilised practice? Or when chemical castration was the exclusive privilege of the worst rapists and sexual predators? Well, not anymore. Because it is 2023, these practices are available to kids.
Every June, like clockwork, we awaken to the rainbow-colored dog whistles blaring from the minarets. It’s that time of the year we celebrate women that never needed to worry about that time of the month.
Unfortunately for us, the diversity of the rainbow does not seem to include the ability to compose a coherent plot. So we take a trip down our modern-day Luitpoldarena in a state of perpetual ennui, with only the occasional eye-roll at the rainbow crew’s feeble attempts at humour to punctuate the tedium.
Still, we are left with the distinct impression that our unfortunate selves have been dragged into this against our will, like unwitting passengers on a runaway trainwreck.
From Scapegoat to Golden Calf
“One is not born, but rather becomes, a woman.”
Simone de Beauvoir
Our perception may deceive us, but there is truth beneath the surface. In the absence of a real purpose that brings the civic and religious holidays to life, ‘Pride Month’ had to be back-filled by corporates and the media, in a pathetic attempt to provide it with meaning. And that is very unconvincing. But its underlying significance is rooted in a powerful and familiar concept.
There's much talk about the rise of transgenderism among the younger generation, which can be attributed to the mimetic desire of human beings, as conceived by philosopher René Girard. Young people, already grappling with their individual identities, face immense peer pressure and go to extreme lengths to seek validation.
But there’s more to this story. In the big picture of Girardian theory, human institutions are built upon rituals, with sacrifice being the pinnacle. Mimetic desire, driven not only by what is beautiful and pleasant but, above all, by what others possess or desire, often leads to scapegoating. The innocent victim becomes a vessel for society's accumulated tensions and hatred, offering temporary peace but built upon illusion.
The sacrificial act itself does not yield any benefits, appeasing only an irrational thirst for revenge that society attributes to a deity but ultimately stems from within itself.
Only once in history has this cycle of sacrifice been broken, with the advent of Christianity. Christ proclaimed the innocence of victims, the futility of sacrifices, and the falsehood of proud gods. He replaced social vengeance with individual repentance, restoring the rational connection between actions and consequences, demystifying sacrificial mythology, illuminating the path to autonomous moral consciousness and objective knowledge of nature.
For the first time in history, we witnessed the justice of forgiveness over vengeance and the truth in impersonal cause and effect, rather than attributing malevolent intent to those who antagonise us.
However, it is a painful mistake to take this for granted. Totalitarianism becomes inevitable when the dominant culture rejects the old sacrificial mythological system but fails to embrace Christianity as its replacement. Without this alternative, the slaughter of human victims resurfaces under different guises, such as the ‘bourgeoisie,’ ‘Jews,’ ‘Blacks,’ and so on that we’ve seen in history. The same forces that now target the ‘far-right’ and ‘toxic masculinity.’
Nazism, in this light, emerges as a direct opposition to Christianity, with one of its key ideologues — Nietzsche — openly advocating for the revival of human sacrifices. Socialism, on the other hand, is a simulacrum that seeks to replace Christianity by diverting its energies to serve the hunt for scapegoats. In modern liberal democracies, ‘wokeness’ represents the latest form of anti-Christianity, where each group deifies their victimhood and becomes the priests of a new sacrificial vengeance.
Yet, they appeal to the very foundation of our Christian beliefs. So, it is obvious that ‘Pride Month’ feeds off, or better yet preys on, Western Christianity. Impersonating the Christian virtues gone mad, as G.K. Chesterton says.
By now, you can see where I am heading with this. It is undeniable that LGBT individuals have been treated as scapegoats in recent history. And that modern liberalism is attempting to channel Christ's redemption into a secular religion, elevating LGBT people as messiahs. But they are false messiahs, and they are golden calves. Matthew 23:12 states, "And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be humbled: and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted." Of course, this principle cuts both ways and cannot be applied universally.
The phenomena of mimetic desire and scapegoating are further expanded upon by Léopold Szondi's theory of the ‘Cain complex.’ This theory delves into how these tendencies manifest on a larger societal scale, resulting in violence, conflicts, and the establishment of societal structures rooted in sacrifice and exclusion: trans day of vengeance, compelled speech laws, BLM lootings, cancel culture, and the like.
Ironically, Szondi himself became a scapegoat for his theories, as his peers increasingly shifted blame onto parents for failures in education, casting his theories under the shadows. Once again, extreme left ideologies circle back to undermine families through indoctrination.
Erich Fromm, one of the dimmest stars of the Frankfurt School, had indeed a lightbulb moment with his blend of radical socialism with orientalism: he sought to hijack Christianity and Judaism from a Marxist perspective, formulating his passions and preferences as respectable academic arguments.
It is significant that Fromm deviated from the purely theoretical stance of Lukács, Adorno, and Horkheimer, aligning himself with the American Socialist Party and actively engaging in campaigns for nuclear disarmament and against American involvement in the Vietnam War, which were the igniting passions of university youth—the golden calves of the time.
Later it was established that the Soviet intelligence was manipulating them as weapons of asymmetric warfare, trying to force the US to unilaterally disarm without reciprocity from the USSR or China. This is known through reports from the FBI and the Ministry of the Interior in then-Western Germany. Now look at all the ‘non-binary’ children springing from TikTok feeds. Rinse and repeat?
Be Like Water
“Water is fluid, soft and yielding. But water will wear away rock, which is rigid and cannot yield. As a rule, whatever is fluid, soft and yielding will overcome whatever is rigid and hard. This is another paradox: what is soft is strong.”
Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching
Modern legal systems emerged primarily aimed to mediate blood crimes. With urbanisation and secularisation, laws began to be created to regulate increasingly secondary aspects of life, expanding the power of the State far beyond the perceived beneficiaries of new 'rights.'
This backdrop sets the stage for the clumsy ‘evolution’ from natural rights to human rights that we have witnessed in the past century. Drawing from Simone Weil, it becomes clear that taking a stand against the woke assault that utilises Pride Month as a vehicle to cement these new ‘human rights’ into our everyday lives is not just necessary, but crucial.
A right holds no inherent substance; it is merely the effect of someone else's obligation. If you assert that children have the right to be protected but cannot precisely identify who has the obligation to protect them, the supposed right becomes nothing more than a placebo. If children are present, you already have the obligation to protect them. They will not be safeguarded by vague 'human rights' enforced by capricious contemporary gods but by the obligations that other — real — human beings have towards them.
Thus, rejecting the normalisation of Pride Month by boycotting the 'allied brands' is an important and tangible way to protect our kids. The pushback is just as real, in the form of an artificial 'debate' surrounding the 'right' of a group of people to compel speech and exist above our biological realities, while putting others at risk, revealing the true nature of the discourse: the urgency to regulate increasingly secondary aspects of life.
Since rights only materialise with obligations imposed on others — and as Kuehnelt-Leddihn and H. L. Mencken concluded — every new law needs a cop to enforce it.
Even behaviours seemingly arising from individuals become mediated, from speech to family dynamics and sexuality. Sexual activity has become the paramount political agenda of the 21st century, the precise totalitarianism proposed by Michel Foucault, where sex transcends its purely private nature and infiltrates every aspect of our public lives.
If a young person's private exploration of sexuality becomes a societal spectacle that demands a complete shift in collective mentality and impositions on others, the freedom of self-realisation, satisfaction, and acceptance simply vanishes. There’s no room for self in the off-the-shelf sexualisation of childhood.
As new laws necessitate new cops, they also create new criminals. When the definition of new crimes is accepted unanimously without questioning the underlying premises, the criminals can be defined by their thoughts rather than their actions—those labeled as ‘homophobes’ or ‘transphobes,’ who are accused of committing ‘genocide’ through their ‘hate speech.’ Dissent becomes blasphemy, and conscientious objection becomes violence.
The sudden surge in young people identifying as ‘LGBT’ coinciding with the allure of newfound rights and the opportunity to become the center of attention raises questions. Is the short-term triggering of dopamine, and subsequent release of a colorful catharsis, worth conscription into a lifelong war against one's own nature?
Childhood should be free from consequences, allowing for the celebration of possibilities over actualities. As Kierkegaard puts it, childhood should embrace egotism, the fragmentation of the self, and the escape from boredom.
However, some individuals are stuck in this stage, afflicted by a Peter Pan syndrome that transforms them into devout hedonists who blindly believe it is their sacred duty to jeopardise children's futures in an attempt to save them from their own unresolved issues. They selfishly impose their limitations and frustrations on children who would otherwise be free from such burdens.
This is why the phenomenon of ‘Pride Month’, which has experienced unhindered growth until now, is facing increasing backlash when children have become the target of its crosshairs.
Cross-sex Hormones and Circuses
“[...] Already long ago, from when we sold our vote to no man, the People have abdicated our duties; for the People [...] now restrains itself and anxiously hopes for just two things: bread and circuses”
Juvenal, Roman poet
Still, the hollow indulgence of pride continues to permeate through the fabric of society. Dysfunctionality such as schizophrenia and self-mutilation, and the embracing of extremist notions that nature and truth are irrelevant, persist without consequence. It's as if the new age Samaritans started a service, with the only purpose to issue a challenge to the vulnerable youth: "I dare you to do it."
Living through the month of June feels like life within a teenager's liver, forever engaged in a reckless Tide Pod challenge. Constantly sifting through toxic ideologies and poisonous transgenderism, searching for a shred of balance to restore to society. Amidst the alienation and pretense, something must have transpired to render otherwise rational individuals impervious to the impact of this terrorist ideology.
It is an empty, barren, and purposeless display of human action—a self-fulfilling nihilistic prophecy. However, you can only defeat that which you can replace. So, instead of wasting time chastising theories and ideologues, we must present a superior alternative to the dominant culture, reducing them to insignificance.
Even though it may often feel like we are condemned to exist beneath the shadow of the rainbow, ensnared in its suffocating embrace, let me reiterate that the work is cut out for conservatives: the systematic dismantling of the sacred quartet of positivism, Marxism, structuralism, and Freudianism that reigns over culture, and replacing it with nothing less than the revival of good old Christianity.
Another awesome piece. Thanks for putting forth unassailable truth so well.
A wonderfully-written essay, but dare I say exclusionary? As an atheist, I agree witj every premise in your piece save one - Christianity as the savior of liberal democracies from the ravages of woke culture totalitarianism. Replacing one false God with the old one won’t do for those who do not engage in fabulisms. How about the simple belief in individualism, and the rejection of sects and groupthink. Christianity is no less a cult than “LGBTQ-ism” and its supernatural foundation evidence-free. If we raise our kids to reject the need and compulsion to join a mob, then they will truly be their natural selves, and perhaps we will all be saved.
